I needed some inspiration for the start of the year...

We have experienced a lot of change and 'new' lately and so I am trying to reorganise my brain and get a bit of clarity for the next phase of our life. I'm a bit of a list maker me, something to do with needing a visual I think (or there not being much space in my poor little brain!).

I hope you all had a very happy new year. I have been meaning to write a post for some time now, but we have been rather preoccupied these days trying to relocate our life to a different country!
Life is just a little chaotic at the moment and I am concentrating on keeping my sanity and my family happy, as well as packing, re-packing and organising all our belongings.

Anyway...

Christmas was a magical time with the family, spent in the beautiful mountains far away from the rest of the world it seemed... including internet.
A nice break I have to admit. :)

We ate, drank and were very merry! The girls (along with their cousin Oliver!) had a lovely time and played and played with their new things.

We then had a very exciting new year to look forward to as we headed east to the city of Istanbul. I got rather snap happy with the camera and did my best to capture this colourful, authentic place amidst the hustle and bustle and comings and goings of our trip (kids in tow!).

I hope the following images help you to envisage this marvellous place and tempt you to its delights one day in the future.

We did plenty of walking throughout the day and so our darling baby tagged along so patiently, she was so good, I am very proud of her. X

All over the city you can find these beautiful ceramics and discover ancient ruins and architecture that pop out in unexpected places.

We visited the 'Museum of Turkish & Islamic Art'... I will try and do a separate post about it as it was a very inspirational place full of beautiful, inspiring pieces that go back hundreds of years.

I feel I have only just scratched the surface, but this is already a rather long post so I better sign off here. There are still more photos so look out for part two... :)

Life has been busy lately with selling up, moving out and planning Christmas. There's also been two little girls to look after and a few other projects going on (including this one), so I've mainly been capturing bits & pieces of life on my phone.

I will be picking up my camera again over Christmas though and especially as we are heading east for new year... Hooray! Istanbul here we come! Can't wait to hit the Grand Bazaar and the Hamam. : )

Oh and this image gave us our inspiration for wrapping this Christmas... brown paper packaging, tarted up with lovely bright red ribbons and labels. Simple, but effective!

I gave our advent calendar a little more attention this year and incorporated some Christmassy quotes, scriptures, carols and even jokes to read out each day. Of course chocolate was not to be left out, but in this day and age, we parents try our best to balance such things with what will hopefully enrich and deepen the characters of our little ones.

I finished crocheting a baby blanket for Anouk. I am really pleased with how it's turned out (especially for a first go!). Normally a neutral kinda girl, I decided to go for a slightly more retro colour scheme and I'm glad I did. I particularly like the way the brown and yellow offset the pink and give it that slightly 70's feel.

So my 2012 calendars are finally ready... woohoo! Of course it wasn't as straight forward as I'd hoped (these things never are in my experience!), plenty of phone calls and 1 broken printer later..... they're here in my hot little hands! Now sitting patiently waiting to be wrapped up and shipped off to their new homes for the start of next year.

Go on... you know you want one! : )

Not only did my printer guy do a great job of the calendars, but each time I went I was treated to a political "lecture" (as you do) and came away totally converted to his way of seeing things. Talented guy!

I got inspired today to be a little more arty with my camera and snap some stills that, for a change were not of my children... (well, apart from one!).

We took a trip up to a forest park, where they have a few farm animals and even some deer.

It became my mission to get a decent shot of the stag - albeit through the horrid barbed wire fence! I think I succeeded, but don't know which I prefer.... the warm tones of the coloured shot or the stark, crisp black & white one.

Thoughts?

My very creative Mum has something to share with you.... My sisters and I have a lot to be grateful for having a Mum like her. She definitely set the tone for all things creative and 'out there' in our lives.

She says...

" I could spend my life, that is my thinking / creative life !! scrolling down through all the wonderful things in the world of Pinterest and yet doing nothing.

This would end up being pointless and VERY unfulfilling soooo - I decided that something could be achieved...

David and I set out to the builders yard looking for a chunk of wood, the lady there was very gracious and gave it for free. We then had to search for another wood yard where it could be cut into the desired shape. The men there said their lathe was too small and we should go to the yard by the railway station. So we duly set out for this yard only to find nobody spoke English, but they were all eager to help!

Many hands made light work!! Some searching for interpreters, some were the audience, some searching for better wood than their colleagues.

In the end our first chunk of wood was NO good and the superlative piece was cut and sized to perfection!!!

The theatrical matinee' was a great memory for us and rewarded with beers for the cast who were thrilled!

After many layers of varnish, this is my first idea - conceived / nurtured and brought to birth, just in time for David's birthday party, upon which his choice of birthday cake sat.

I am happy with the result , if not only because I DID something instead of just dreaming of doing it.

Hope you liked the finished product...

Except I've used material, so they are pretty instead and mismatched.

More of a Spring look this, but we are busy having a good clear out and as usual, whilst sorting and boxing I got a teeny bit distracted.

Picking up my calendars tomorrow... a little late than planned, but I'm dealing with a very laid back Greek printer. He's done a great job, so I'm not complaining. Can't wait to show them to you...

I really hope you like the look of my 2012 calendars.... i really loved the way they turned out last year, so kept with the same look this year, just with new pictures.

They are still at the printers, but will be ready in the next day or two. I couldn't wait any longer to share them with you! (You can order yours here)

Just so you know, these will be getting a regular mention as I am on a bit of a mission to get the word out and with blogging and facebook as my main tools for doing just that, I will be using them to the best of their abilities. (So please bear with me!)

Albania trip - Kruje Market

My Mum, sister and I were treated to a girls day out on Friday. We visited a beautiful old town called Kruje, situated high up in the mountains about an hours drive from Shkodera.

The market there is famous for it's antiques, memorabilia and traditional Albanian souvenirs.
I thought you'd like a visual...

In need of some respite and to satisfy our grumbling tummys...we stopped for a bite to eat in one of the local, traditional taverns.

We then spent some more time browsing, and at the end of the day came away with a few of our own treasures.

And some handmade treats for the kiddies...

It was very sad to leave so many other lovely things behind, but we were very satisfied with our finds.

It was all about finding the prettiest party look this weekend... ready to celebrate at Dad's 60th birthday bash.

We had fun dressing up and helping each other with the finishing touches...

Inspiration came from Pinterest and our favourite magazines...

However, Mum went all out and got a professional to do her hair and nails, (we won't take it personally!).

Note: the gold sequins in my hair are from a local habidashery and cost about 25p!

And finally, there was plenty of yummy leftover cake from the party, enjoyed by all for breakfast this morning...

This has to be one of my favourite portraits that I've taken. It was a few years back now on my faithful little 35mm pentax camera (long before I owned a digital).

I gave the photo to their mother and never found the negative. Finally today I borrowed it back and scanned it in for my own records.

The last days of summer...

Today it seems autumn arrived... well we'll see how long it lasts. Sometimes Greece just can't bear to leave the summer behind and drags it out for as long as possible.

We spent the weekend enjoying these last days of summer at my parents cottage. It is such a beautiful setting, I love our trips up there...

I love all the seasons but autumn seems to hold a particularly special place in my heart for some reason, and I always look forward to it.

This year could be an interesting one as there are lots of changes happening in our lives.

First up this week, now that our apartment is sold, my job is to begin the arduous task of boxing up all our lovely belongings. (Although I do love a good sort through, I will no doubt find plenty to distract me along the way) ...wish me luck!

My knitting needles are out and I am lovingly knitting my darling daughter ANOTHER scarf.
But wait! This time - clever old me - i'm following a pattern! (A rather simple one, I might add - but still, that's progress!)

It's got all the signs of a beginner (i.e. very wonky), but obviously that adds to the character and I hope she will cherish it for the rest of her life!! ;) Here she is sporting a knitted head warmer I made her last winter:

Next upon the to do list: crocheting! And not just your standard simple scarf either ...I have my sights set on making a blanket! Who knows, if all goes to plan, it will end up looking something like this:

After my recent trip to Albania I thought I'd post a couple of videos made by a friend of ours Sam Davis, which are really worth watching. Sam visited Albania back in May this year and captured our friend Noah in two short and inspiring documentaries.

It is such a beautiful insight into life for a young Albanian guy and the photography is superb.

So, for a moment let us step outside our little comfort boxes and see life through some else's eyes.

My little girl's room...

...has been taken over by a rather large paper pompom!

This is the first one I've made and it looks very impressive, but in fact it is incredibly easy to make (that's how I like it...).

Here's how.

I'm off to my parents summer cottage by the sea this weekend (hooray!) and then we're traveling up to Northern Albania on Monday to visit them there. This will be my first time visiting Shkodera, I've heard so much about it, it's time to see for myself... looking forward to it. : )

networking social site I've become a bit of a sucker for is Pinterest. If you don't already know about it, pinterest is a great way to store your favourite images from around the web by 'pinning' onto a virtual pinboard.

I find it a great reference for visual inspiration when I'm having a mental 'block', whether it's photography, fashion, food, or things for my kids etc.

And of course, it wouldn't be a networking site if you couldn't follow other people and see what they've been pinning!

Holidays with 'insta.gram'

Our family has just returned from a fun-filled holiday on the stunning Greecian coast with my sister and her family.

We stayed at my parents cottage in the mountains for the first week (same village as this place) and the other half camping on the beach! Lots of good fun and plenty of happy memories to come home with.

I decided against taking my camera camping for obvious reasons - namely dust & sand! It was also nice to have a little break - but I did manage to capture a few things on my phone, using the wonderful insta.gram (a new mini obsession!)...

I also shot my first Greek wedding! It went pretty well and once I've had a chance to edit the final images I'll post some on here.

I've had a mini blog make-over, in case you hadn't notice and plan to do the same on my website before the autumn - so watch this space.

Celebrate good times....

There has been much cause for celebration this month as my darling mother turned the grand young age of 50! Many happy returns to her!

So whilst my younger sister was over visiting we threw her a pretty summer garden party and made a point to pay attention to detail.

We drank this delicious summer cocktail - of which I highly recommend.

Delicious, tarty food. : )

Wouldn't this little studio space be an ideal workshop for apali post?

I have so many ideas regarding the future of our small little business - I'm excited at the mere thought of it!

As ever, these things take time and right now my main priority are my two sweet girls and I couldn't be happier to give them that. I am lucky to be able to be at home with them right now and still have this creative outlet that in time I hope will develop and grow.

Along with my sister and Mum there are a couple of new projects on the horizon that we hope to share with you this coming Autumn, so watch this space!

I also have my second wedding booked this month - so that's exciting. I'm going to have to work in some 'feeding-stops' for little Anouk! But thankfully my support team will be on close stand by! :)

Round the corner from my parents place stands an old, traditional Greek house. As far as I can tell no one appears to be living in it. Towering around it are countless modern concrete boxes, but this place retains real character & a rustic charm.

What do you think?

{i already have plans to convert this little hut in the garden into my very own studio...well a girl can dream! :)}

I don't know about you but I can see it has real potential... white washed walls and blue shutters are a great start, I'm thinking some lovely climbing jasmine, olive trees, a little vegetable patch even! And that courtyard is made for hosting parties on a summers eve.

I'm guessing the inside needs gutting and modernising - but what a brilliant project that could be.

This is just one example of the many projects I am planning in my head! :)

Sometimes I think it would be nice to have a little shop one day selling pretty things and exhibiting my photographs.

Anthropologie stores would be my first call for inspiration...

The designers behind these shops do interior design on another level, incorporating themes of art and culture, it must be a real visual treat for its customers.

Working it in must be a dream... in fact I could probably live there.

When I wasn't bouncing a baby on my knee or feeding her this weekend.... I managed to get a bit creative and make a necklace!

I quite like it and can't decide whether or not to sell it on my website or not. Hmmmm...

In fact, I made half of another one too. Just some minor finishing touches to be done then I will definitely be adding it to apali post jewelry and posting it for all to see on here.

Got some other ideas in the pipeline, but all needs time to sort out - something I have little of these days. :)

Summer hair.

It seems I have yet to grow out of playing hairdressers with my sisters (and with two daughters of my own, it seems the fun has only just begun!). :)

We've been experimenting with hairdos lately, ones that will keep us cool this coming summer that are a little more interesting than a simple ponytail. I thought I'd post some pictures of our attempts, it seems plaits were the popular look, in various forms...

Equally, the chic, messy knot on the top of your head is simple and cool (in more ways than one!).

This blogger had the same idea - I like what she did too!

I recently did a portrait session of a friend's beautiful little daughter, Ellie.

I thought I'd share some of them with you on here.

Although it can be quite a task to keep kids attention whilst photographing them, they often produce the best results, as you can see from this sweet little girl.

Ellie's Mummy has a great blog too, called 'The Wishing Tree' - make sure you check it out. She is a graphic designer/illustrator and designs some lovely, bright & fun greeting cards which she sells on her website and various shops in the UK.

On March 15th, 9.17am... Anouk Florence Carter was born!

This precious little girl has slotted into our lives perfectly... we are so thankful to have her.

Today the sun is shining and i saw a yellow butterfly in the garden!

We are celebrating the arrival of our daughter and making the most of this beautiful day with raspberries & meringues and my mum is baking a delicious victoria sponge.

Hooray it's March! Spring is round the corner!
In anticipation I bought a bunch of daffodils that are on my windowsill sunnying up the room with their happy yellow faces. :)

I got some ideas for spring outfits via Ruche that I thought I'd include in this post too. These pretty feminine combinations are also getting me in the mood for brighter, sunnier days and I especially look forward to baring my toes in some pretty sandals like these ones...

Austen Country

Just down the road from where we live is the house that Jane Austen grew up in. It's a pretty special part of the world to be in for that very reason. This woman continues to inspire many others like me 200 years after her death for her witticism, storytelling, intelligence and acute observations of her own society.

Roads are even named after places in her books, Willoughby Avenue, Netherfield Drive etc.

We rented the new BBC adaptation of 'Emma' and are planning to start it tonight. The era is such a visual feast for the eyes, I am really looking forward to it....

A splash of colour!

In an attempt to be more colourful in 2011 (a mild new years resolution I decided in my head!)... I reached for the mustard wool, as opposed to my usual neutral palette, then blew my skills away by teaching myself how to knit in a few (wonky) button holes!

Wedding photos - Part 1

I have finally got round to sharing a selection of photos from the wedding I did at Christmas.

It was a brilliant day and thankfully I think the photos seem to reflect that too! I was pretty exhausted, but that probably had more to do with the fact I was 7 months pregnant. I had lots of support from family & friends though, so that made a huge difference (thanks again you guys!).

These are just a handful (there are plenty more), I will hopefully share a second batch later on and include them on the website.

My baby is due in two weeks time so the countdown has really begun. The plan in my brain is that I will go into labour next Friday, so we shall see if brain and body cooperate with each other!

Everything is pointing towards a healthy, happy labour so I am feeling very positive and even quite excited about the experience....

I have two evenings (yes TWO!) out this weekend so I went in search of some ideas of how I can dress up my enormous bump (now at 36 weeks and really feeling & looking it!).

I'm not into spending a fortune on maternity wear and at this stage I'd rather wait and treat myself post-huge-belly. So it seems it's all about squeezing into what I've already got!

This girl seemed to know what she was doing with her cute dress & tights combo...

But in the end, (with some help from our hormones and the anticipation of what is to come) ...I think we pregnant women glow from the inside out!

It's clearly very organised and everything has a place, but I like how it gives the impression of a cluttered space with all these little bits and bobs scattered around.

I thought I'd share with you the outcome of my knitting efforts! The pattern needs perfecting and I think it would be nice a little longer... but the wool is gorgeous and snug - so I'm rather pleased. :)

Definitely considering adding it to the apali post repertoire once I'm completely satisfied with the final look.

I'm also thinking of going on a short crochet course next week at this lovely wool shop, hopefully I can learn a few new tricks of the trade!

It's about time I started getting organized for the arrival of our second baby in roughly 6 weeks time (if we're going by my due date).

I was very excited to purchase this beautiful 1970's vintage blanket from 'the bucket tree'. It arrived last week and hopefully the first of many treats.

It's a perfect size and I love that it looks old and a bit hippy. It'll keep the little thing nice and snug (and perhaps even afterwards it could double up as a winter shawl for me...? Ssshh!).

After this woolly inspiration.. i kept to my word and actually completed a little scarf for my little girl! I decided to start small.... and actually really enjoyed spending my evenings (and some quiet afternoons) knitting away.

Jemimah is quite the little poser and we ended up having a modelling shoot at the park. (Check out the cute pompoms!)

It didn't stop there... I bought some beautiful, thick wool and just finished a neck cowl for myself. Once I've tied up its loose ends I will post a picture.

Hello there... I know it's been a while, but it's been a busy few weeks, not only with Christmas etc, but a temporarily relocating back to the UK for the first quarter of this new year.

We had a wonderful, snowy Christmas and now we're really excited about what 2011 will bring for a number of reasons, the most obvious being the arrival of our second baby! Due at the beginning of March. I am currently in week 32... most people are shocked when I say I still have 2 months to go as I am officially giganto-sorous!

There is so much to catch up on... I finally have my precious computer up and running in our temporary dwelling, so can begin to get started on my various projects, including the following... more Christmas images to edit, a wedding to edit (which went very well by the way), and various blog ideas I've been storing up.

I've just updated my online boutique with half price on my 2011 art calendars! Now only 7.50€ (approx. £6.20)

I am quite excited at the prospect of being in the UK for the next few months, and providing I am in a fit state too, I plan on doing a fair bit of exploring now that certain places and things are within my reach!

Hope to blog about them too... obviously!

I'm photographing my first wedding this coming Friday... yes, Christmas Eve! I'm looking forward to it, but obviously a little apprehensive too. You definitely feel the added pressure to capture all those special moments throughout the day.Luckily the bride & groom are very good friends and seem to trust me,so that has put me at ease a bit!

I haven't taken many photos for my website recently. Seem to have been quite occupied trying to promote & sell my other work, including my 2011 art calendars and christmas cards.

I did manage this one the other day... I like the soft focusing and warm colours, but I'm a bit stuck for a name... would love your help! It's currently called 'dreamy bedroom window' - but not sure it totally fits, what do you think?

So you've done your shopping... now for the wrapping!

I'm personally all for the simplest approach, always the most effective in my opinion, i.e. the 'brown paper packages tied up with string' kind!

But as it's Christmas and everyone likes a bit of sparkle this time of year, I might replace the string for some gold ribbon, brown paper for red or a sprinkling of glitter here and there.

I picked up some inspiration from the images below with their unique takes on gift wrapping.... loving the use of buttons, doilies and even sheet music... You?

I wouldn't say I'm the 'super organised' type when it comes to Christmas shopping. I quite like it later on when there's that Christmas buzz in the air.... but preferably not too near Christmas day when you're battling & sweating it out with the crowds.

This last year in particular, I've enjoyed a bit of online window shopping and discovered there's a whole other shopping world out there! Especially in the homemade/handmade market and I would really encourage you to visit ones like the following websites and support these creative people {I know what it's like on the other side!}.

Etsy - so many pretty things to choose from, easy to use and you can even search for shops & artists who local to you.

Folksy - a similar concept to etsy, UK based. "Folksy aims to reclaim craft and showcase talented makers and their work."

Fey Handmade - "a shop for lovely, handmade finds - supporting the independent designer."

Poppytalk Handmade - "online street market curated by Poppytalk to showcase, buy and sell handmade goods of emerging design talent from around the world."

Last year I sewed a lovely red & white striped advent with 24 little pockets for my little one and a half year old girl... needless to say the chocolate went down well - but we had to make sure it hung far from her tiny grasp!

The sewing bit took so much time & effort that I didn't do much fiddling afterwards and so left it quite simple, but this year I'm thinking to add a few touches {ribbons, buttons, bauballs and lots more chocolate!}so I'm looking for some ideas...

Week 23.

This was taken a couple of weeks ago and I feel a lot bigger now, which is slightly worrying being only just 6 months...

I want to try and chronicle the pregnancy progress a bit more with my camera, but really I should have started way back when it was a nice, petite bump.

Second time round for me has seemed to have gone so fast... I keep forgetting how far on I am, it took me a while to work out at what stage I was at in these pictures! I'm just as excited at the thought of having another baby, but I guess I'm just not monitoring every little thing like I was with Jemimah. Well, I have her to think about too now.

I just love the contrast and crispness of these images. The models strawberry red hair and porcelain white skin looks perfect against the snowy backdrop... reminds me a bit of Nicole Kidman in 'Cold Mountain'.

These photographs are getting me in the mood for that kind of frosty, cold winter - but it's far from that here! We took a bike ride over the weekend and people were out sunbathing and even swimming in the sea! It is an unusually warm November here, with some days in the early twenties.

I can't decide whether to appreciate it or not. I've tried to pull out the odd woolly jumper, or hat & scarf but they usually end up stuffed in my bag or left in the car... and with all the gorgeous winter fashion out there I feel a bit like I'm missing out. But then... who complains about sunshine! I'm sure I'll be getting my share of the cold when we head back to the UK at Christmas.

For many of you, I am sure it is not too early to be thinking about your Christmas shopping! I am not the most organised of people when it comes to this, but even I have been keeping an eye out and gathering ideas together in the back of my mind.

The all important Christmas cards being first on the 'to do list'... written and in the post by early December. In recent years I have heard many a person say they've given up on them, too much hassle, too many people etc. But to me, I love the art of sending a card, there's something so personal about receiving something in the post, pretty to look at & handwritten! Hopefully not another dying tradition!

Here is my autumn series...

I got the idea to create a series of 3 themed images, it came to me whilst walking through the orange & brown trees of the forest on Saturday. We took our daughter for a walk - it was such a beautiful day and she was very happy to splash in muddy puddles with her spotty wellies!

We ate soup and bread, listened to the rustling leaves and watched the little geckos scurrying around beneath the trees... a perfect autumn day.

These three seasonal fine art photographs are just 20€. (Normal price 12€ each - so a pretty good deal in my opinion!)

Woolly inspiration!

I have taken up knitting again! I say "again" because I've been knitting this scarf (I'm ashamed to say) for about 3 years! I get into it and then forget all about it...

Anyway, the idea is that I will spend the coming cold, winter evenings curled up on the sofa knitting a blanket for my new baby. But before I buy the wool and commit myself I want to be sure I will actually finish the thing! So I'm going to complete (and practice on) my lovely stripey scarf... and then see if it's good enough to wear! Knitting is surprisingly therapeutic and quite relaxing even. Something you can do sat in front of the telly. :)

I'd been thinking about getting back into knitting (and crochet... a forgotten skill I once had!) for some time. Then I got a spark of inspiration from this lovely etsy shop 'Kove Handmade'.

I just love her wraps and neck warmers and think her choice of colours are gorgeous, especially for this time of year, they look so cosy and comfortable.

Also... please don't forget my 2011 art calendars are ready and waiting to be purchased... :)

2011 art calender!

This post is to launch my new 2011 art calendar from 'apali post'!

I am very excited and happy with the results of the calendars and think they will look great up on the wall or notice board. For each month you get a different fine art photograph - so 12 images in total, which you can cut out and use again afterwards - framed or as a card perhaps?
Basically you are getting the equivalent of 12 mini prints, but at a bargain price of only €15 (£12.99/ $20)!

Each page measures roughly A5 and printed on high quality card. The pages are not bound together so you can display them anyway you like. (I will also throw in a free, metallic clip - like the one pictured, to help for displaying purposes).

I really hope you will consider purchasing one. I put a lot of time and work into these so I am praying they will sell!

It might be a little early to think about - but don't you think they would make lovely, unique Christmas gifts?

I thought I'd share a couple of new images available to purchase as fine art prints on my website.

I took them over the weekend whilst me and my little family took a stroll along the promenade on Sunday morning.

I've decided to start adding a copyright logo on each image - I hope it doesn't take away from the photograph too much and you can imagine how it would look without it, but I just want to be safe not sorry!

I'm pretty happy with these two... let me know what you think!

I followed this little guy around for a while trying to capture him as perfectly as I could... I managed a couple of good shots (this being the best I think!). I couldn't believe how big he was!

We recently found out we're expecting another baby! Hooray! So excited. So my thoughts are turning to all things baby... (our oldest is still only 2 but it seems like such a long time ago since she was a baby, she's such a grown up little girl now!)

There's some lovely, inspirational blogs out there by some very yummy Mummys doing a great job!
Really enjoying reading this blog by a Mummy of 3 kids, (her youngest only a few weeks old). That little girl is one very stylish baby and has some very sweet toys!

This Mummy has an amazing story to tell about adopting an African baby boy - she chronicles her life as his Mummy as well as 4 beautiful girls.

Looking forward to photographing the little one when it finally pops out!

Creative accessorizing.

In a previous post, I mentioned I was gathering inspiration to make a necklace to wear for a friends wedding... well I thought I'd share the outcome.

The overall idea came from this amazing designer, 'emersonmade' who I had seen mentioned on a few other blogs. Her designs are so pretty and feminine - but just a little out of my price range! So I simply bought 4 flower corsages (in various sizes) and attached them to some ribbon... voila! At least I knew no one else was likely to turn up in the same thing!

Jewelry theme continued... there is a new necklace available to buy on my website. I decided to go for autumn colours this time, using bronzes and browns... lovely for this time of year. So if you fancy a treating yourself this season the necklace is just 10 euros! Come by the website.

After shying away from it for so long I have finally decided to step out and make myself available for wedding photography. It's not my ability I am unsure about (although confidence is always a big hurdle to get over), just the pressure that goes with photographing a day like that... I didn't want any of it.
Well I seem to have changed my mind, may have something to do with the fact you can actually earn money from it. As opposed to what I am currently trying to do with my photography!

I'm also looking to design personal wedding invitations using my photography - something I recently did for a friend, which you can also view on my website.

Speaking of weddings... I wanted to share this beautiful one of a fellow blogger (tales of a jUnkaholic) who married this summer. It's completely inspiring, with so much thought, detail and creativity (and apparently low expense!) She clearly has a real flare and unique style... be inspired and go see the photos.

I've been away from blogging from a month now! I actually missed it.

I should be able to post some pictures in the next few days of a shoot I did of 10 cute kiddies for a friend. Just want to make sure their Mummys are happy I post them!

Since being back I've had a good old catch up on all my favourite blogs & websites and thought I'd share some of the wonderful things I stumbled across...

I spent a couple of hours flitting through youtube cooking videos and got all excited about all the recipes I want to cook and more importantly EAT!

How good does this look?:

'The Papered Parlour', a craft venue in London is such a brilliant, creative concept. It is open for workshops in photography, silversmithing, screen printing to name but a few. And can even be hired for parties. A real inspiration.

This beautiful, rustic home is a dream. Lots of ideas to glean from there.

And finally... We honeymooned (3 years ago now!) in Italy and it was just as you might imagine. Absolutely stunning. These amazing photos by Irene Suchocki taken on her travels there are incredible, I could look at them for hours... enjoy!

My parents are having some work done on their summer place, and D is helping out. So for half of the week we are camped down there. My little girl loves it there as she is very free to play outside in the garden, splashing in the paddling pool and discovering the beautiful nature that surrounds the house. There are horses, a donkey, gecos, dogs & cats and a birds nest above our front door with 4 little birdies that have just hatched!

While she plays I have had some time to potter and make some more jewelry for my little business 'apali post'. My "model" sister has just arrived from England so I will post some more pictures in the next few days.

I wanted to post some photos of the hotel D & I got married in, it is just such a beautiful place and it inspires me every time I visit.

This is Greek style at its best. Nothing too elaborate or over the top, but simple, natural and quite rustic. There's a clear byzantine feel to the decor and strong eastern influences which are obvious in particular in the tiles that cover the floors of the hotel. Hidden away in the mountains of Sithonia it really is a treasure to be discovered.

The owner has done an incredible job in restoring these old buildings and developing them into wonderful guest rooms to stay in. The rooms are furnished with incredible antiques he has found and either dusted off or restored. Breakfast is served in a courtyard under a large vine and the owner has even created a vegetable garden at the front of the hotel.

My friend Carine makes the best cupcakes! She's quite the perfectionist when it comes to the detail, so they not only taste yummy, but they look amazing too! This weekend I was very happy to photograph some she had made for a local food festival.

I have just bought a dress for a wedding I am attending this summer (the excitement this gives to a girl no guy will ever understand). Now I'm thinking to get creative and make a necklace to go with it.

Anthropologie has just launched their european website and I am getting plenty of inspiration from their beautiful range of necklaces here. (Also check out the hats!)

I am hoping to develop 'apali jewelry' more over the summer, when time and resources are available to me of course. :)

You simply pick 5 apali prints of your choice for just 12€ a pack. Each photograph is printed on professional premium photo paper measuring approximately 10cm x 7cm (roughly A5), including a thin white border.

Perfect for group framing, collages or to send out seperately as cards.

I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner!

I am also hoping to add a new set of postcards to the shop in the very near future and perhaps even a whole new collection itself... so watch this space!

Last night this youtube of 'the delicious Miss Dahl' inspired me to get in the kitchen more. Living abroad means I miss out good old BBC telly, so this was a lucky find.
Sophie Dahl has had her fair share of criticism for this show, and okay she's not actually a chef so how she got her own cookery show beats me. In the end I think she's just like the rest of us domestic wannabes, that like to think we know what we're doing in the kitchen.... but really we're just playing and pretending and looking forward to the final and favourite bit of it all - EATING!

Here in Greece we have a such an amazing variety of local, fresh foods available I have no excuse, (well I do, because I need that beautiful kitchen she's in, in order to fulfill the fantasy! :)

David and I watched this a few weeks ago and I thought it was worth mentioning in a blog because I absolutely loved it. If I was a filmmaker I'd wanna make movies like this.

It's so warm, funny and true to life in so many different aspects!
Most of all the couple have the same conversations we had over and over before having our little girl. Made me laugh... :)

I am slowly gathering together a collection of artwork & photography each year from various different places as and when I get the chance to travel around. It kind of goes with the territory and by no means should you assume I am talking about fancy paintings and original pieces, I am a sucker for postcards! Only when I am really good have I been lucky enough to purchase an original (and even commission one as a wedding gift!).

I've always liked to see pictures hanging around homes, and I think it adds a lot of character to a wall and general feel of a room. Whether a large black & white photograph hung in a modern frame, a colourful oil canvas propped up on the fireplace or a mishmash of vintage postcards and family photos all squashed into a pretty collage with mismatching frames.
